Vitamin D reduces the risk of COVID-19 says top health experts!

The latest news on how effective Vitamin D is on reducing the risk of COVID-19 broke on December 21, 2020.

Over 120 health and medical experts from the United States and Europe sent an open letter to world governments to call for an immediate recommendation for healthy adults to increase their intake to 4000 IU per day.

Scientific evidence based on more than 70 studies show that Vitamin D reduces the risk of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization and death.

This is a huge deal as many of the population does not take enough Vitamin D to support a healthy immune system.

It’s also important for anyone who has gut issues; SIBO, IBS, Crohn’s, because gut issues can cause poor absorption of vitamins.

Recently there was an article published on CTV news stating that “more than 80 percent of hospitalized COVID-19 patients had vitamin D deficiency.”

Why you need to increase your daily intake of Vitamin D:

  • Vitamin D is a hormone produced by the kidneys, which controls blood calcium concentration and affects the function of the immune system
  • Promotes healthy bones and teeth
  • Supports lung function and cardiovascular health
  • Influences the expression of genes involved in cancer development
  • Regulates insulin levels

Most of us do not get our daily dose of Vitamin D, even in the summer months when we are outside in the sunshine. So many adults and children slather themselves with sunscreen which blocks the healthy Vitamin D from the sun,

Because Vitamin D has been linked to health concerns including heart disease, cancer, and auto immune conditions, doesn’t make sense to increase the amount you are taking?

If you live in a Northern climate and are not taking Vitamin D daily, it’s advised that you have a blood test to see where you levels are. Then you can start to supplement in a healthy way.
