10 Day Detox Recipes

Detox in just 10 days with Dr. Mark Hyman’s new book the 10 Day Detox Diet- The Blood Sugar Solution.

Having read this book, I think this diet is a great way to reboot your body and detox from sugar and foods that turn to sugar in your body.

Did you know that sugar is 8 times more addictive than cocaine and that sugar is the #1 food that causes heart disease. Detox with real food and treat your body with the respect it deserves.

As a cookbook author and nutritionist I love coming up with recipes. Here are some recipes that I have created for my Challengers who have embarked on the 10 Day Detox Diet with me.

Enjoy!

Hemp Shake

1 cup unsweetened vanilla flavour hemp milkDetox Shake

2 tbsp hempseed

1 1/2 tbsp raw almond butter

1/2 avocado

1/2 cup frozen organic strawberries ( I use organic because regular strawberries are heavily sprayed)

Put all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. You may need to add a little bit more hemp milk. I like my thick and I eat it with a spoon.

I purchased the hemp milk and hemp hearts at Costco

Salmon Eggs with Spinach

6 eggs

1 tin wild salmon

1 small bag spinach ( organic preferably), choppedDetox Eggs

3-4 green onions diced

1 tsp herbamare original seasoned salt ( if not just add in some sea salt with a little fresh chopped parsley and celery seed powder)

Beat eggs in a bowl and add a little water. In a pan with a little olive oil cook onions and spinach for a few minutes. Add in salmon and then eggs, stir until eggs are cooked.

Creamy Spaghetti Squash

1 spaghetti squash

3/4 cup raw cashews or almonds

1 red pepper, diced

1/2 large onion, diced

1 clove garlic, minced

3 tbsp olive oil

1 1/2 large avocado

juice of 1/2 lemon

handful fresh parsley, chopped

1 cup frozen peas

sea salt to taste

1 tbsp olive oil for onions and peppers

Soak cashews or almonds in a bowl of water for a few hours. Cut squash in half and remove seeds.

Place squash face down in an oven proof dish with a little water in the bottom of the pan and bake 375F for 40 minutes.

Scrape cooked squash into a bowl.

Drain and rinse nuts. Place in your blender or Vitamix. If you are using a blender you may wish to blend your nuts first a bit

To blender, add in avocado, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt. Blend until creamy. You may need to add a bit more olive oil depending on how moist your avocado is.

In a frying pan cook onions and peppers in a little olive oil until starting to brown.

Bring peas to a boil and turn off.

Pour avocado mixture in with squash and mix well. Put back into squash shell.spaghetti-squash-2_2158

Top with onions, red peppers and cooked peas.

Sprinkle parsley on top.
